Podcast

The podcast “Just Keep Swimming” is written and narrated by Hillcrest's mental health consultant Alia Dolan, LCSW in partnership with Bay Area Podcast Club. The podcasts are intended to provide parenting guidance from a mental and emotional health and wellness perspective.

• Students in K-5 have five specials classes that meet weekly: Library, Art, Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), Tech, and PE
• Students in 6th grade experience a different elective each trimester: Art, Computer Science and Spanish
• Students in 7-8th grade can opt into year-long Art, Computer Science, or Spanish

• In grades K-5, students receive three standards based report cards after each trimester. These report cards offer a performance rating of 1-4 on the key standards of the grade level along with narrative feedback from teachers. 
• In grades 6-8, students receive a letter grade of F-A in each of their classes at the end of each of six marking periods. In addition, students receive an averaged semester grade in the Fall and Spring. These semester grades make up students' middle school transcript and count toward their overall GPA. 

• The School Site Council is made up of parents, teachers and the principal who together discuss our plan for student achievement, examine data, surface questions and push our collective thinking around our implementation of funds. 
• One of the main documents reviewed by the SSC is the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). You can review Hillcrest’s 2025-2026 SPSA here.
