Smart Device Policy 

• Hillcrest is a device free school (that means phones, tablets, watches, etc.). All students K-8 must follow our device-free policy while on campus (before and after school included) or on field trips. Failure to do so will result in escalating consequences which can be found in our smart-device policy. 

Chromebooks

• Students are assigned a Chromebook to use in their classrooms and must follow Hillcrest’s chromebook contract.
• If students need a chromebook or internet hotspot at home, you need to fill out a technology request form in the parent Aeries portal (this is part of the data confirmation process at the beginning of the year). If you need help with this, please see Wayne Berreman in the main office - wayne.berreman@ousd.org

Academic Integrity/AI

• Plagiarism, cheating, or copying will result in consequences starting with a warning and escalating to permanent record documentation if repeated.

• AI use in the classroom and for homework will be at the discretion of each teacher, following the principles in the OUSD student agreement for using AI
• Hillcrest is following OUSD’s AI Guidance and categorizes the use of AI into the following zones:
  
• The consequences of misusing AI may include: No credit or a failing grade on the relevant assignment or assessment; record of integrity violation; possible further disciplinary actions depending on severity and frequency.
